Course for carers of the elderly

‘Bravecare APS, in partnership with the Institute for Quality and Innovation in Home Care (iQH), is offering free professional education!
The course has been developed for care staff providing services in a home environment. It covers knowledge of medicine, nursing, psychology as well as practical care issues.
Learning takes place online, at your own pace, in a variety of languages (choice of Polish, German, Russian and Croatian).
The scope of the certification is 8 Modules; 80 h of theory and up to 320 h of practice (field trip):

Module 1

Basic knowledge of diseases and disabilities, treatments and ways of caring for the elderly, dependent and disabled. (28h)

Module 2

Perceptions of the social environment and the existing need for help and support. Activities related to the living situation of the person in need of care and his/her social environment and a discussion of possible counselling and support services offered by social facilities. (8h)

Module 3

Acquisition of interpersonal competences, effective and proven ways to relate behavioural problems. In addition to basic knowledge about the need for care, knowledge and skills are imparted on how to perform daily supportive activities to improve the quality of life (14h)

Module 4

Communication and interviewing.

Developing observational and perceptual skills that are particularly useful for supporting those with speech and hearing impairments. (6h)

Module 5

Self-management in the context of volunteering, including insights and exchanges about your own role and experience of volunteering. (8h)

Module 6

Collaboration between full-time staff and volunteers in skills development and collaboration. (4h)

Module 7

Ways and possibilities to care for and organise activities for mentees, content related to the household, possibilities to accompany and support mentees. (12h)

Module 8

Methods and opportunities for care and activities.

Care and companionship for the senior, general safety rules, hygiene, first aid issues, home care issues. (12h)

Each module ends with a short test. At the end, summary questions must be answered. All answers are checked by competent persons with medical training.

As part of the course credit, you are required to go on assignment to practice the knowledge you have acquired in practice.

The course can be started and continued already during the assignment, thus reducing the time to receive the certificate.
